May 2007 Workshop Seeks to
Empower Women with Disabilities

September 2006

The creators of a groundbreaking program for girls with disabilities are hosting a three-day, intensive national workshop for women interested in learning how to build a gender-conscious, disability-proud, safe space for girls.

The interactive workshop, Between Me You and Liberation: Starting a Group for Girls with Disabilities, will provide the information and instruction necessary for starting your own group for girls with disabilities, including recruitment, curriculum development, group dynamics, capacity building and more!

Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago, one of the country's best known Centers for Independent Living, will host the May 2007 event.  The workshop is free and includes a $500 stipend available to help cover the costs for attending.

The exact dates for the May 2007 workshop have not yet been announced, but participation is extremely limited.  To find out more about the event, contact Susan Nussbaum or Ana Mercado at 1-800-613-8549—TTY 1-888-253-7003—or by email at snussbaum@accessliving.org or amercado@accessliving.org.
