The Facts:
A new redesigned candle lighter from Bic gives prospective users 3 choices. Similar to the wand lighter that many of you use, the Bic “Luminere” gives you 3 optional positions. Unlike the typical wand lighter that is locked into one position, the “Luminere” is adjustable. The 3 optional positions come in handy when lighting candles that are hard to reach. Both types of lighters do the job, but the adjustable head is even easier for those candle lighting jobs.
How it Works:
It may sound like a cool gadget to buy, it does however have one important drawback. In order to use it one has to push 2 buttons at the same time. The 2 buttons are not the issue; but the difficulty of pressing the two buttons simultaneous is the problem. The wand lighter is like a typical wand while the “Luminere” stands up-right with a flexible head for hard to reach wicks. Gripping the lighter in one hand, the thumb is placed on one button; while pressing down, the index finger is than pressing down on another button. The only way for the device to work successfully is having the thumb button firmly pressed, only then the second button will allow it to light.
Recommendation: NO
This lighter looks relatively easy to use. However, after trying it out one questions the simplicity of the device. This lighter is not recommended for those who have fine motor difficulties nor for those who have little usage of their hands. In order for it to finally work, I had to use both hands. When tried out by 2 able bodied individuals, they too had difficulties with the lighter.
Note: Not Refillable
